‘’Establishment of Kali temple in Bangur Avenue and installation of deity – Goddes Kalimata on the memorable night of the 14th November 1961 were the acts of divine inspiration, spontaneous awakening of the soul and feelings of the heart of the resients of Bangur Avenue with the urge of worshiping Mother Kali for the attainment of spiritual upliftment, eternal peace and salvation of the soul. All glory to MOTHER KALI.’’

In order to construct a Permanent Temple and for its control by an autonomous Society/Trustee , a plot of land (opposite L3C Bus Stand—269/1,Bangur Avenue, Block –A ) was donated by M/s Amalgamated Development Ltd.in year 1963. An autonomous society in the style of ‘’BANGUR KALI BARI COMMITTEE’’ was formed by the residents of Bangur Avenue in a Public Meeting under Presidentship of Late Promotha Ch. Mitra. Shri Ashutosh Banik and Late Nikhil Ch. Banerjee were Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Later on , It was nenamed as ‘’Sri Sri Karunamoyee Raj – Rajeswari Kali Vaktas Society ‘’ ( A registered organization under West Bengal Soceity Act .)

Under the aegis of this society , a Permanent Temple (designed by Shri Ashis Sinha , a renowned Architect duly sanctioned by Shri Birendra Prasad Guha the then chairman of South Dum Dum Municipality ) had been constructed step by step. It has a common half for social & religious purposes. The height of the temple is around 40ft. There are two other ante- oom temples. In the main temple deity Klimata exists and – in one deity of Radhakrishna & in the other, deity of Lord Shiva exists. All the idols ( deities ) are made of touch –stone ( Kasti Pathar ) . The name of the Kalimata was defined as ‘’ Sri Sri Karunamoyee Raj Rajeswari Kali Mata ‘’ .

The architectural view of the temple is really splendid. The environment of the temple is significantly serene and tranquil congenial to Puja & Worship.

Apart from the local & neighbouring areas, many many devotes , disciples from the distant places visit the temple to offer Pujas & to witness the puja worship and other rituals by the learned priests. Besides people irrespective of age, gender and status gather in the Common Hall for the social & religious confabulation. Throughout the year , all sorts of festivals are duly performed which include Kalpataru Utsab etc.

The Soceity is inspired by the ideology of THAKUR RAMKRISHNA, MA SARODA & SWAMI VIVEKANANDA. In fact , the society is a spiritual cum philanthropical organization. Religious activities i.e daily Puja of Kalimata, Radhakrishna & Lord Shiva and othet reliougs Ceremonies in one side and on the other side SOCIO- HUMAN WELFARE ACTIVITIES are undertaken throughout the year. The salient activities are:-

b) Running a charitable Medical Centre.

c) Distribution of clothes, garments & blankets etc . to the needy people.

d) Providing books & financial assistance to the poor meritorious students.

e) Running a free – Reading Room & maintaining a LIBRARY consisting of 15,000 books.

Apart from the above activities a CULTURAL division also exists which stage drama on religious themes—mainly for upgrading people’s morality, mental spirituality and strengthening the bond of friendship/fraternity for development & betterment of the society. In the meantime a good number of Religious Dramas have been staged viz Manus Ramkrishna, Sadhak Ramprosad , Nati Binodini . Meerar Bandhua, Ganga Putra Bhishma etc. which were enthusiastically appreciated by the huge audience. This cultural division is also used to invite Swamijis of Ramkrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram Sangha very often for their valuable lectures & preaching.

The existing body remembers with heartfelt gratitude the tireless efforts and generous contributions of the predecessors in building ans developing a unique combination of a place of worship and a humanitarian organization. Let us look forward to emulate the predecessors path to enhance humanitarian services and further development of the Temple and its environments . However , global recession and spiral escalation of prices have become an impediments even for its upkeep and regular activities. Obviously funds are to be generated from pulic charities and contributions.

Hence , every mite of contribution and donation is thankfully acceptable . In case of donation of cheque, A/c payee cheque in favour of ‘’ Sri Sri Karunamoyee Rajrajeswari Kalivakta’s Society ‘’ to be drawn and sent to the :
